If you were feeling grumpy today, a kind act by Nicky Romero may restore your faith in humanity.
Romero, who will play a show in the Philippines later this month, told Facebook fans Monday that he plans to donate money and give away VIP tickets to those who lost everything to Typhoon Haiyan.
For those who don’t know, Haiyan was the largest typhoon (Asia’s equivalent of a hurricane) to ever make land fall. Ever. Conservative death tolls estimated as many as 9,000 could be dead, with thousands more still missing.
Entire villages were washed away, leaving survivors with scarce supplies.
Romero said he was heart-broken to see the images of desolate survivors on the news and wanted to help.
In a 40-second video, he said he will give local first responders and emergency aid workers money when he plays his Nov. 21 show in the Filipino capital, Manila.
He urged his fans to donate to victims of the superstorm.
“I sincerely hope you all will join me in doing our part by also donating money, time or any other type of effort so the people there can rebuild their community and create safe, sustainable and healthy living conditions,” Romero wrote on Facebook. “On top of donating money, I will give away VIP tickets, show your sympathy and use #Nicky4Manila online!” – Nicky Romero
