The duo N i G H T S decided that RaverRafting was just cool enough to get an exclusive interview. Although we did not see any faces there was enough energy, personality, and optimism from this young duo that it made up for the anonymity. The duo proves that with hard work, and determination you really can conquer the world! Okay… Okay maybe not conquer the world, but you can make peoples ears happy with great music.
RR – I get a very mysterious vibe from the duo, and I believe that is the goal. Why did you choose to go the anonymous route?
N – We chose the anonymous route because we want the music to be the first thing that brings our audience in, it’s important to us that before any assumptions or judgement is made by the way we look, dress and carry ourselves that the music speaks for itself.
RR – Where are you trying to fit into the current EDM circuit?
N – It’s really hard to think about where we want to specifically fit in cause there’s so many different aspects we love of all the different sub genres. The energy of the youth at the shows is just insane so once we get rolling we’ll let them decide that for us.
RR – If you were trying to evoke one specific emotion through your music what would it be?
N – There are so many different types of songs we make so it depends. Sometimes we want you to feel joy other times sorrow. We want that aspect of our music to stay open for everyone’s unique interpretation.
RR – You released your first song 7 months ago, and since then all of the music you have been posting has been racking up over 25k listens. Do you guys hold yourself to a higher standard now?
N – We really do, whether we have 25 thousand listens or 25 listens, with every song we attempt to out do the last in some way. We want to continually raise the bar for ourselves to avoid being stagnant, and as long as there’s growth we’re both happy at the end of the day.
RR – What moves are you taking to make sure you keep growing in this circuit and also as artists?
N – Our main focus for growth is creating something the fans come to us for. We want to really pay attention to not only what works for the fans, pbut what feels most natural for us.
RR – Is there a specific goal you are hoping to accomplish by the end of 2017?
N – To hit the million mark on a single.
RR – Where do you draw inspiration from when writing music?
N – Love and Lust.
RR – Have you dabbled in any other genre?
N – We started as a Hip Hop R&B Duo for 5 years before N i G H T S came about. The two genres are something we still hold near and dear to our hearts. You can and will continue to hear that influence in all of our music.
RR – Do you have any artists that you look up to?
N – So many!… But some that have inspired both of us to get where we’re at today: The Weeknd, Flying Lotus, Bruno Mars, Jadakiss, Flume, PARTYNEXTDOOR and way too many more to list.
RR – Can we expect any shows or possibly a tour in the near future?
N – We’ll have to wait and see 😉
