A name you’re going to want to familiarize yourself with is the new UK-based duo on the block, No Rules. Joining forces with up-and-coming label Deja Vu Traxx, rising DJ’s Alfaz and Ashfaq Nurul just dropped their latest Soda Pump EP and it’s got us non-stop grooving.
No Rules launched onto the UK house scene with their first released track only one year ago and spent the rest of 2016 experimenting with new music. The culmination of this is a solid 2-track EP that is sure to make waves on dance floors and festival grounds in the coming season. Made up of two original mixes, “Soda Pump,” and “Tingling,” this EP delivers chilled, tech house beats with tons of rolling baselines and entrancing synths, offering all the right feels needed for a good vibes only kind of night. Without a doubt, we’ll easily attest to these tracks, but we’re not the first ones — Soda Pump EP has already received early support from Dirtybird favorite Shiba San, as well as Jacky, and Vanilla Ace. Excited about the EP’s release and it’s budding success, No Rules said a bit about how it all came together:
“This EP just came out of pure improvisation with the idea to keep things simple and effective, avoiding anything too complicated. Our aim was always to pack plenty of groove with a significant punch, a bit of a minimal touch and keeping a uniqueness in its sound. Lee loved the tracks when we played them to him and he supported them right from the start. After a while he was talking to us about Deja Vu Traxx.”
Freshly formed in late last year, Deja Vu Traxx is the imprint of the established club brand Deja Vu, the second-longest running house night in the UK that’s been keeping one of the most notorious parties going for more than 25 years. It’s long-time resident DJ and now label boss, Lee Jeffrey, always prioritized delivering solid, unique music over big-house cookie-cutter selections to club goers, and it’s clear that he’s continuing to uphold this approach with his label. After No Rules’s “Soda Pump” fell on his lap, Lee Jeffrey knew that this duo would be the one to set the precedent for the label’s future artists and endeavors. He said:
“I’ve been playing “Soda Pump” in my sets for a long time and have been a fan of the No Rules sound for even longer, so as soon as we got cracking with the label I approached the guys straight away. The vision for the label has always been clear from the start — we want to cherry pick releases from across the electronic spectrum and release good house and techno music, not just generic tech house sounds.”
And No Rules, my friends, delivers exactly that — a strong, distinct set of tech-house tunes that you’ll immediately want to get down to on repeat.
