Noer the Boy is a new artist coming to you from DJ Shadow’s Liquid Amber Family, and if a fresh spin on your run of the mill beats is what you seek, search no further than his new release, “Soda Pop.” The track uses samples of soda cans being struck in various ways, creating an off the wall musical concept and intriguing first installment of the Digital Dubplates series.

Hip-hop meets an futuristic and abstract sound in “Soda Pop,” and certainly opens one’s eyes to the enormous possibilities for beat exploration in bass music. The successful release of the track, now at over 19K Soundcloud plays and counting is largely in part due to label head, DJ Shadow’s initiative highlighting blossoming talent via single-song, digital-only release.

We wanted to be able to put out great songs on a more consistent basis, without necessarily waiting for the artist to generate a full EP. Sometimes it’s just about one strong track, and this allows us to get it in everyone’s ears that much quicker. – DJ Shadow
