Notting Hill Carnival is back again for a weekend of happiness, colour and most importantly, music from around the world this Bank Holiday for Europe’s biggest annual street party. In a celebration of Caribbean culture, people from all over the UK and beyond will head to the world-renowned Notting Hill and Kensington boroughs of London to follow the parade, dance alongside the performers and head to the vast array of warm up, pre-carnival and after parties on offer next weekend.
Here’s a list of where to catch the best artists pre-carnival parties.
Friday 25th August
Fabric
Kick off the weekend with a bit jungle and drum and bass at none other than Fabric with the Heartless Crew. Notting Hill Carnival takes a lot of influence from the garage genre so expect to hear that mixed in with the electronic beats and bass you know and love. Newbie to the scene Nadia Rose will accompany Heartless Crew following the release of her ‘Highly Flammable’ LP in Room One.

One of London’s leading art centres is exactly where you want to be to start off your carnival weekend. A more subdued night than that at Fabric, you can also expect to hear a range of different genres, from Brazilian steel drums to hard hitting bass, definitely to be seen from Munich-based Schlachthofbronx. Brazilian drum and dance group Maracatu Estrela Do Norte and KOG will be mixing up some afro house, afrobeat, dancehall, reggae and jungle. Get tropical at the Bussey Building next Friday!
