As the clock struck twelve I entered Pacha in New York City last Friday night. Immediately I got a rush of excitement, I knew there was an incredible experience in store for me. The opening DJ duo was Sted -E & Hybrid Heights, their set was perfect. Their music selection was flawless and they got the crowed amped up, setting the tone for the entire night. When you enter a club, festival, or any show and immediately start ‘feeling’ the music you instantly know it will be a memorable night.
As one o’clock approached Pacha began to fill rapidly. Paige took over the decks and received a huge ovation, wasting no time he immediately started spinning. It was a surprise to me that this was his headlining debut. He had proved through EDCNY, ID Festival NY, and other recent show’s like Beekman Beach Club that he is a big time festival/opening DJ. I guess that could raise the question, how will he perform headlining in a club setting?
It was very clear from the first track he played that he was going to tear up Pacha, and he did. There were several guest appearances Friday night, Alexis Biesiada and Michelle Millano both sang live unexpectedly. Biesiada came out first and performed ‘Leave It All Behind, her collaboration with Paige. One of my favorite tracks to date. Shortly after Michelle Millano grabbed the microphone and sang ‘Freakin‘, her own original track. They both showcase their beautiful vocals while wearing gorgeous outfits, it was a pleasure to see them perform. As the night continued I heard an array of tunes, everything from a Florence and The Machine ‘You’ve Got The Love‘ remix to a Queen ‘We Will Rock You‘ edit. As promised on Paige’s Pacha Podcast I also heard the divine Deborah Cox perform ‘Higher‘ and ‘Leave The World Behind‘. She carried amazing energy and as she took the stage the crowd was re-energized.
Overall Paige did a fantastic job, his track selection was second to none. He played Tommy Trash’s remix of ‘Toulouse‘ as well as Chuckie & Gregori Kosman’s remix of ‘Irresistible‘, which was really refreshing to hear. He specializes in playing based on a crowd’s reaction, each time you see Paige live or listen to one of his sets you are guaranteed a new track list filled with bangers.
At three o’clock the Long Island native handed the reins over to Nari & Milani. The Size Records Duo opened with ‘Atom‘ which sent the crowd in to a frenzy. They played popular records like ‘Greyhound‘, ‘Hell Yeah!‘, ‘Who Is Ready To Jump‘, and the Third Party remix of ‘Other Side‘ by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. They closed out what seemed to be a perfect night of music.
I’ve warned you once and I’ll warn you again. ‘The Paige Project‘ is going to be a goldmine of massive records that will change electric dance music. Paige is a spectacular DJ/Producer, I am looking forward to seeing what electro masterpieces he comes up with next.
Stay tuned for the official release of ‘Higher‘ featuring Deborah Cox. Also take the time to download and listen to Paige’s Episode 137 Pacha Podcast.
