ODESZA, the Seattle-based trip-hop/dream-pop duo, just capped off a sold-out tour spanning the United States. Most producers would take a break but these guys seem dedicated to satisfying their fan base with more music.
This week the two released a brand new track, titled “Memories That You Call” and featuring Monsoonsiren, along with the announcement of a brand new album called In Return. The album will release September 9th on Counter Records (an imprint of Bonobo’s Ninjatune record label) and features “Memories That You Call”, “Songbird”, and other new tracks.
“Memories That You Call” extends ODESZA’s knack for producing cheery tracks to a whole new level. They begin the song with a high-pitched vocal splice that resembles a soft lullaby. However, the track ramps up the energy by introducing ODESZA’s cascading synths and drums. A respite pops up in the middle of the track, highlighting the ambient nuances of Monsoonsiren’s production. The track does not break any new ground for ODESZA but that is perfectly fine for young producers still honing their sound.
In Return is up for preorder on itunes and ODESZA’s site. Listen to “Memories That You Call” below:
