With a slew of remixes for the likes of ZZ Ward, Baby Bash, and Chromeo, in addition to an original production under his belt, Jerry Folk is following in the footsteps of his fellow Norwegian artists, Kygo, Cashmere Cat, and Lido, and is vying for recognition as Norway’s most promising young star. In the States, Jerry Folk holds the top roster spot for the rising LA record label, Next Wave, alongside tropical house don, and labelmate, Bearson. Armed with his one-of-a-kind style of nu-disco that borrows from elements of house, funk, and indie, Folk is on the fast-track to stardom, and his latest effort sees the nu-disco don take on UK duo, Oh Wonder, and their track, “Lose It.”
The slow, emotional nature of the original is pushed aside, as Jerry Folk infuses the track with an irresistible house backbone. The alluring male-female blend of vocals offer an interesting duality to the track, reflected by the ringing synth melodies and subtle percussion arrangements that pave the way for a bubbly bassline that gives the track a playful personality. Check out Jerry Folk’s remix of “Lose It” above, and since the track is a free download, there’s no reason not to have this one geared up in your summer playlist.
