The line-up has been announced, the maps have been released, and now the Chobeewobee Village schedule has gone public. We are within weeks of stepping into the portal and officially kicking off year two of Okeechobee, and as far as I am concerned, festival season.
Chobeewobee Village is the intended place for attendees to spend their down time. You have an hour before the next show you want to see? You have several options that Okeechobee has provided for you.
You know those awesome visuals you have seen during Bassnectar’s set you have even seen them during Tipper and Friends? The Android Jones visuals they enhance the shows experience ten fold? Okeechobee is bringing you a beta experience known now as Microdose VR. A virtual reality experience combines music, art, and dance into a virtual reality experience like no other. The company was founded by Android Jones, Anson Phong, and Scott Hedstrom and they are bringing it to Okeechobee to test it out.
Joel Stockdill will also be another installation of Chobeewobee Village. The talented artist was apart of the inaugural Okeechobee, where he sculpted the now permanent installation that is Clarabell the Megafauna I sculpture. During the course of the weekend Stockdill will be working on a second Megafauna sculpture to commemorate the second year of this bar raising festival.
In the Chobeewobee Village the Pavilion Palace has its home. The beautiful stage that was built by Joel Stockdill, and decorated by the one and only Shrine will be the location of musical acts, fire spinners, breakdancers, and contortionists. The Palace is definitely something you will want to check out ever so often to check out some mad skills, and surprises Okeechobee has in store for you.
On top of the Pavilion Palace, Chobeewobee Village will feature four other stages: Luscious Land Tea Lounge the hidden oasis where you can get away and relax. Halcyon will be a pop-up for the independent vinyl shop that is based in Brooklyn. The stage will feature live DJ sets from a variety of artists. Jive Joint is a fun house of sort, and has been described as a “Psychedelic Vaudeville” we might just have to check this one out for ourselves. Finally the Incendia stage will not only be a stage where you can catch some of the local acts, but also where you can improve your flow. Workshops on contact flow, poi, staff, and a variety of other flow props will be on the incendia stage throughout the weekend.
Nineteen days and you will be able to experience all of these amazing details that the coordinators of Okeechobee have put in place to make sure the Portal is a one of a kind adventure for you and your friends. Tickets can still be purchased for Okeechobee, but supplies are limited.
