Ophelia Records Presents ‘Advent Volume II’

Seven Lions has really taken being a label head in stride, with this year alone seeing a slew of releases for his imprint Ophelia Records. Outside of his highly successful return to releasing a full project with Find Another Way, he has given us Freesol Fridays, Ophelia label artist Twitch schedules, and his own Visions festival streams, introducing many anew artists into the label fold, and easily supplying us so much fresh music that are playlists are set for the next couple of years minimum. But one thing that has been really special about Ophelia is the Advent series.

The first edition back in May introduced us to eight new artists, one of which, Caster, just released a devilishly spooky EP, Black Sands, on Ophelia for Halloween weekend. Advent is a bi-annual EP series aimed to feature rising artists and producers across a spectrum of genres, providing a platform for them to show their work and to give fans someone new to love. We now get to meet another 14 artists for Advent Volume II, with genres ranging from trance, drum and bass, future bass, cinematic bass, and the label’s staple, melodic bass.

The second volume starts off with STAR SEED‘s “Heaven”, where striking piano and guitar draw us in before a warm wall of sound builds around us. Dubbing themselves as an experimental electro-pop duo, they are producers and creatives that have taken their music industry experience to develop a sound design that discovers music through nature, spirituality, and the unknown. Keep an eye out for early next year as their debut EP, INNERSPACE, will be landing on Ophelia. From there we filter through different genres, like progressive trance with Luke Anders and Fahjah‘s “Air” and elements of dubstep and unfettered heavy metal on VVN‘s “Venomous”. We also get some interesting flips on drum and bass with “Breaking Your Void” with Xavi and Paper Skies and Alltair & Wiguez “Edges”. There is so much more to experience in the second volume, with every artist bringing something unique to the table.
