option4 has been keeping himself busy in the new year, launching his own record label, HotBOi, with the help of fellow tech house partner in crime, Will Clarke. The Denver based producer has been throwing down on other labels like Ninja Tune, Club Sweat, and Nurvous, with stunner tracks like “Vicious Rule of the Sarah“ and “Vibe On.” He has now fallen into a lot of techno and house fanatic’s hearts and playlists, which meant it was only going to be a matter of time before the talented artist was ready to build up a label of his own. The first to come was Clarke’s “On The Train” that had all the right elements to really give option4‘s label an excellent kick start.
His first single to premiere on HotBOi records is “Lifeline,” a hella catchy track that starts off with spoken vocals over distorted tech rhythms. He builds us up to the ultimate pay off, dropping into powerful bass and bubbling synths. The repetition of the lyrics has us reminiscent of conversations of what or who shaped our music tastes that we’re sure everyone is very familiar with. The chorus ends with the line “That saved my life,” and for many of us that couldn’t be truer. option4 had this to say about “Lifeline”:
“This is easily one of the most introspective and personal records I’ve ever written. I got so consumed with the vocal in my head that I actually got scared to finish the song by myself. I called in help from Walker & Royce to help me engineer the tune to get it as good as it could be. I’m SO happy with the final product. It’s a club weapon for sure.”
You can check out option4‘s new track out now on Beatport, SoundCloud, and Spotify. He is also setting off on a US tour soon. You can check out the details and purchase tickets here.
