There’s three things that come to mind when the words “Paper Diamond:” a super stoned Alex B, atmospheric tracks ranging from glitch hop to trap, and live experiences filled with energy and passion.
The Paper Diamond style is like no other. One reason why is due to Alex’s wise artistic choices, usually branding himself with distinct graphics online and incredibly colorful visuals at concerts. Colorado-raised Paper Diamond made a shift in a new direction in 2014. He plans to take his growth game plan to ever higher levels in 2015.
Paper Diamond’s wild collaboration with Loudpvck was easily his hit-of-the-year. Complete with piercing, slurred drops and melodies bouncing from high to low, “WYLIN” is an embodiment of originality that repels any similarity to today’s generic, cookie-cutter EDM scenes. Another 2014 memorable milestone was Paper Diamond’s Diplo & Friends mix. Alex throws down an eclectic blend of old and new PD tracks, including sick singles from Mad Decent and OWSLA, whille showcasing a handful of new tracks.
So with 2015 behind him, Paper Diamond plans for a bight future.
Paper Diamond has announced a series of exciting projects that are all interconnected. Starting in 2015, PD will launch Rain Drops EP, begin The Rain Drops Tour, and open doors to The Rain Gang Movement, the most curious of projects being the latter. There’s still alot of mystery surrounding how one project is woven into the next, but we do know that The Rain Gang Movement will be a personal community similar to other music communites like Bassheads. Along with this, Paper Diamond has a very specific selection of artistic/visuals themes he will be applying to all projects across the board.
“This will be the most insane touring rig that we’ve ever had out on the road!” – Paper Diamond.
Along with these announcements, Paper Diamond dropped a preview of “Take Me Away,” a quasi-future bass single that shows off Alex’s developing music style. “Take Me Away” morphs feminine, almost-childlike vocal samples to the cadence of his poppy, percussion-filled beat – facilitating a smooth musical ride from beginning to end.
2014 was a breakthrough year for Paper Diamond. Huge shows, tracks, and experiences past within a year, a relatively small time frame. Given what we know now, you can bet the Rain Gang and friends have something ever better in store for 2015.
