We recently reported a rumor that EDC Las Vegas 2014 would be expanding to two weekends. That unconfirmed news has been traveling around the internet like wildfire. But just the other day Pasquale Rotella took to twitter to squash that claim stating that “No plans are set for #EDC2014“. He also said, “Love the excitement for #EDC 2014! I’m still celebratng 2013 & havent made decisions about nxt year.”
If you remember back toward the end of April we also reported that EDC Las Vegas 2014 is in jeopardy. Here is why: Insomniac has been absolved from paying the Live Entertainment Tax in the state of Nevada. But pending recent tax legislation reform that would blanket all forms of ticketed entertainment and remove the exemptions EDC benefitted from, Pasquale Rotella could be facing a 10% tax increase equaling $9.5 million. So hosting Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas may not be worth it.
I don’t know the specifics behind the tax legislation reform bill as is stands right now, but if you do, feel free to email us and we will properly credit you. Overall, do I think that EDCLV will happen next year? I’m not sure. However, I do think that if Las Vegas doesn’t work out Insomniac will take their main festival to Chicago.
