A masterful release by Italian producer Nicholas coined simply as: Lonnie’s Reprise is this week’s featured EP on Past to Present. Coming straight from the guys over at CHURCH Records, Lonnie’s Reprise exhibits a modern take on classic sounds by combining timeless jazz progressions with the simplicity and groove that house music provides. Following several incredible releases on labels like 20:20 Vision, Home Taping Is Killing Music and X-Masters, Nicholas displays a new wave of house music that is both eclectic and vintage.
The mind tends to wander when listening to Lonnie’s Reprise, and if you concentrate hard enough you can feel the neurons in your head dance in place as communicate with each other. The endorphins released by these superbly constructed tracks are enough to change one’s mood from morose to miraculous within the hour. There is one track though, that supersedes the other 5 in this EP and that is “Dahlia”. It comes in humbly with bongo-like drum loops while embellishments like piano chords, synths, bells, and most notably a smooth trumpet are added throughout. There will even come a time while listening to this track, when a sigh of satisfaction rises from your feet and is expelled from your body. These are the soothing effects ever-present in Lonnie’s Reprise.
There’s nothing quite like the feeling of pleasure you get when treating your body right, for this we suggest a dose of Lonnie’s Reprise EP and a degree of trust in that Nicholas will supply all the right ingredients to appease your mind and body. You can grab the EP here.
Until then, enjoy, and thank you for reading!
