It’s nearly impossible to be a trance fan and not know Paul Van Dyk, one of the very first DJ’s to be considered an icon of EDM. There are so many notches on his belt, it’s hard to choose the most impressive thing he’s accomplished. He was the first Grammy winner for the newly designated category of Best Dance/Electronic music in 2003 for his album Reflections. He’s been named the number one DJ in DJ magazine three times, something many artists may never experience. He has reached the top and traveled the world too many times to count to play for millions of fans. Yet, he continues to produce outstanding music and works towards bettering his sound and live production. Check out his most recent track, “Touched by Heaven”, which nods back to his classic trance roots. This proves that he never forgets where he has come from as he continues to strive forward in his career.
Paul Van Dyk is back out performing after suffering a near fatal injury at A State of Trance in Europe last year. Dreamstate is his first major tour since the incident, hitting 12 cities including Atlanta. We thank the music Gods that he has made an excellent recovery and is back to grace us with his presence.
