Paul Van Dyk Delivers Energetic Performance in Atlanta [Event Review]

Last Thursday, the Opera Nightclub was flooded with an array of fans, ranging from those that have just started their journey into trance to others that have been long term followers. Before Paul graced the stage with his legendary presence, the crowd was warmed up with Ryan Michael, a pioneer in the trance scene in Atlanta. Unity Events made this happen, a organization founded by Ryan and some his fellow friends looking to share and expand the electronic music scene in Atlanta. He definitely packed the dance floor and his tracks literally made my camera shake from the intensity of the bass. He delivered a passionate three hour set before Paul came on the stage to continue the beautiful trance journey.

Paul Van Dyk was met with reaching hands and overwhelming cheers as he switched with Ryan to dominate the boards. He had plenty of intense energy as he dazzled with his beloved classics and amazing laser displays. The crowd cried out the lyrics to some of his more well known hits like, “I Don’t Deserve You” and “Love Is”. The energy bounced off the crowd and Paul endlessly, making each track more exciting than the last. The dance floor got thicker and thicker, making it impossible not to feel the emanating love from all his fans. “My World” got the whole crowd to whoop and jump so hard that the floor shook beneath me. It’s been a long time since I’ve been with a crowd as fierce and heartfelt as them.

He ended the night with his newest release “Touched by Heaven” before saying his goodbyes and love you’s. We could tell that neither he nor the crowd were ready to go, but it was 3 a.m. and the city isn’t entirely forgiving on a Thursday night. Everyone either left with just as much energy, if not more than when they walked in, or in that daze that an incredible trance set puts you in. Paul electrified Atlanta with his incredibly dedicated performance, and we hope he comes back to see us again for another round very, very soon.
