ShockOne’s remix of “Icarus” gives PhaseOne’s track an exciting new twist, blending the raw energy of drum and bass with the hard-hitting drops of dubstep. Dropping on November 8th, 2024, under the Sounds of Mayhem label, this rework is bound to deliver everything fans love about intense, genre-mashing sounds. Expect a fresh rush of drum and bass that takes the original to a whole new level.
Karl Thomas, better known as ShockOne, has always been obsessed with heavy basslines. Growing up in Esperance, Western Australia, Karl’s path from his metal band days to becoming an electronic powerhouse was anything but typical. ShockOne started as a duo with Jay Burns, but after Jay moved on, Karl took full control of the project and turned it into what it is today. His early experiences with metal, even jamming with members of Pendulum, helped shape ShockOne’s unique sound—a mix of drum and bass, dubstep, and other hard-hitting dance genres.
ShockOne has earned plenty of respect for his ability to jump between different electronic styles while staying true to his roots. His remix of “Icarus” is another milestone for Sounds of Mayhem, a label that’s already seen multiple Beatport chart-toppers and hosted sold-out pop-up events in LA and Denver—all in its first year. This release is yet another step forward for both ShockOne and Sounds of Mayhem as they keep pushing the limits of bass-driven electronic music.
