Relentless Beats Interview
1. Can you tell us a little bit about the PLF stage designs and overall productions plans?
We are working closely with the city of Phoenix, & our artists to build a festival that represents everyones best creative input. Phoenix Lights Festival will feature two stages with the MainStage labeled the Phoenix Lights Stage, & the 2nd stage being hosted by RBDeep. What i can tell you is the the look & feel of the venue will be unlike any previous festival done in Arizona.
2. Without giving too much away, can you tell us about how the use of light during the PLF will compare to other events that you’ve held? What can we expect?
A large majority of the festival takes place while it is in fact still light out which is a very different look for us. During the sunset our Phoenix Lights Stage will feature Robin Schulz who’s music will complement the sunset over the Phoenix skyline. Once the sun is down we will really pick it up from a lighting perspective, & this will be during Zeds Dead & Hardwell’s performances. Expect lots of special effects during this period.
3. How will the festival grounds be organized? How many stages will there be and will each offer a separate mini-theme?
Our MainStage will be named the Phoenix Lights Stage featuring Hardwell, Zeds Dead, Robin Schulz. This stage will be heavy on lighting, special effects, & of course feature the world’s # 1 DJ Hardwell. Our 2nd area will be hosted by RBDeep with Route 94, Lane 8, Kill Frenzy, & Secondcity + more TBA.
4. In the official PLF press release we read about interactive experiential installations as a part of the festival experience. Is it to early to shed light on what this means and how it will be accomplished?
We are still working with each of the individual artists on these and a lot is dependent on their final pieces. Stay tuned for more on this.
5. If you could describe the visual aspect of the Phoenix Lights Festival in only five words, what would you say?
It’s Out Of This World
True Music Xperience Interview:
1. What is going to separate the Phoenix Lights Festival from other one-day events? Why did you choose Civic Space Park to fulfill your visions?
I think the answer to both questions is really tied directly into Civic Space Park. The location itself is very unique and offers very impressive views of the skyline as well as the existing art installation that hangs over the park.
2. We’ve read that the PLF will be hosting art installations by over 30 local artists. Will those works be scattered throughout the festival grounds or in a designated areas for people to roam and enjoy?
The ability to give local artist a canvas to go and create on is really one of my favorite things to do. I choose to personally meet with the artists and ask them questions as to what their vision is and what they want to create inside the event. The key is listening to them, giving them everything they need, and then standing back and watching it unfold. You’ll need to come check it out for yourself to see what’s in store; I don’t want to give away to many of their intimate plans.
3. PLF has announced a diverse list of acts so far – including Hardwell, Lane 8, Route 94, Zeds Dead and Robin Schulz. What’s the sound or style the PLF is looking to bring to the table? What other types of sounds can we expect on the final lineup release?
We’re always trying to provide the fans the best possible experience especially when it comes to the music. I think the musical aspect and sounds are a personal thing, and can mean or feel different to each of the festivalgoers. The major thing that we focus on is the stage order and building that thick energy throughout the day until it reaches that crescendo at night. By fostering and nurturing that energy you create this palpable sensation that moves through the crowd and is really that special feeling you can only experience first hand at a festival.
4. What’s the ultimate goal for this festival? Where do you see the event in 5-10 years?
The ultimate goal is become a staple event for the market, something that the city is proud to have and the community rallies behind. I think we’re on to something special with this concept we’re already discussing the future and growing this event. It’s been so well received by fans and I thinking it’s a testament to how badly they want an event like this. We’d like to see Phoenix Lights join the ranks of the best festivals in the country and we’re prepared to do everything in our power to make that happen
5. The TMX brand prides itself on delivering a next level concert experience. How do you guys plan on doing that with the Phoenix Lights Festival?
I think it already is next level to be honest. If you look at any other electronic event in the market, this lineup is head and shoulders above the rest. The location is stunning and has never been activated with an event like this before. We’re 10 yards from ASU’s downtown campus and have the #1 DJ in the world (Hardwell), the billboard chart topper with the #1 song on the Electronic/Dance Chart (Robin Schulz), and the owners of the #1 track on Beatport right now (Zeds Dead). Between the park and the lineup alone we’re doing things in Phoenix that have never been done on this level and we haven’t even opened the gates yet. That’s how we like to do things, innovating, creating, and always trying to create something fresh that people haven’t seen before.
