Pushing the sonic limits of electronic music, Phyphr is back with his debut album, Catalyst. This breathtaking compilation transports its audience to an alternate dimension, where Phyphr melts a variety of genres together. Catalyst kicks off with “Still Turnin'”, a groovy hip-hop-infused anthem that encompasses catchy lyrics and soulful soundscapes.
The rest of Catalyst is full of auditory surprises and funky rhythms. In “Seven Days”, Phyphr teams up with Denver-based producer Kaptain to deliver mesmerizing electro-soul progressions. Another stand-out track is “In The Clouds”, a collab with the talented Manic Focus that embodies well-crafted synths and tantalizing vocals. Rounding out Catalyst is psychoactive tunes like “The 80’s”, “Where You Are”, and “Reaction”.
Describing the LP, Phyphr says, “a sincere album that tells the story of a musician who left home in search of the life he dreams of. Featuring relatable songs about uncovering forgotten inspiration and coming to terms with artistic insecurities, this debut album is a prelude of what’s to come…” Fueled by his desire to empower the world with his music and creativity, Phyphr is spot on when he claims to have big plans for the future.
