Porter Robinson hits Echostage Saturday, December 22, 2012 with support from Cosmic Gate, Audien and Des McMahon. The event is another massive show at DC’s largest and latest concert venue, Echostage. The variation in styles between the different artist for the night should provide a unique experience for all in attendance.
Although Porter Robinson released the highly acclaimed trance tune “Language” earlier this year, he’s more commonly known for his electro-house style. I’m interested to see what one of the “prodigies” of EDM will throw into his set given that Cosmic Gate and Audien (Anjuna Beats) will both play trance heavy sets. DC native Des McMahon will open with some bass, moombahton and a few tracks off of his latest release Ginger Problems.
Porter’s development as an artist and dedication to the music, makes him stand out amongst many of the other producer you may compare him to. He turned down working with Katy Perry, instead choosing to collaborate with other artists like Mat Zo (massive track). When the EDM bubble bursts, it’s the artists who will have the staying power and Porter is without a doubt one of them.
Only in DC can moombahton, dubstep, trance and electro house exist on one event. It shows how in touch the promoters are with the scene and how it has developed in the capital. I guess it also helps that they built it.
