To say that Porter Robinson has made tremendous efforts to make sure his fans understand his album would be an understatement. Between the concept art released for each of the tracks, the live stream on Wednesday in which he talked about his inspiration and goals for Worlds, and the conceptual videos for “Lionhearted” and “Flicker” so far, Porter Robinson has brought his fans right into his own “world”. Continuing to focus on his video game / real world blurred reality idea, the music video for “Flicker” flawlessly combines real and virtual while making a homage to 80’s technicolor culture.
The video travels through a seemingly normal city-scape, except infused into the view is technicolor, polygons, grids, and other elements reminiscent of the days before high-definition and flat screens. The 80’s vibe this video has fits perfectly with the laid-back groovy feel of “Flicker” and how Porter Robinson wanted it to be visually portrayed.
