Summer is near it’s end and electronic music continues to take small, yet surprising changes that, in retrospect, will be it’s defining moments in 2015. More genre hybrids, interesting mixes of chill and energetic vibes, and everything in-between featured on this week’s Powerful Picks. So dive in and experience something new now.
Melanie Martinez – Pity Party (Myles Travitz Remix)
Who doesn’t know Melanie Martinez? Her tunes, having been transformed into popular remixes as well as popular originals in their own right, are trending on music channels all over the net. Her talent is unrepresented. Myles Travitz has stepped in and given Meanie what she deserves, a tune that’s catchiness, intensity, and feeling rank 10 out of 10. This tune is an official remix and is one of my favoritea on the recently released “Pity Party” remix EP.
Palm Trees – Casanova
“Casaova” features elements that are becoming frequently more commonfrom chill house scene to even mainstream radio. Soft bell synths, passionate vocals, and a house beat – the combination truly is hard to beat, making Palm Trees’ style hit the spot.
TastyTreat X Tuslo – Inferno
Featured via Buygore Records, TastyTreat and Tuslo focus on the stranger side of trap with “Inferno,” but then follows up with swell r&b melodies and wild, yet beautiful tempo changes. “Inferno” pieces together well and is dope in it’s own right.
Tristam – Crave
With an almost 80’s cinematic feel to it, Tristam introduces “Crave,” a tune that features a stunning balance of acoustic and electronic elements, throw in a few touching vocal verses and beautiful drops too, and you have one very satisfying banger.
Lupe Fiasco – Kick, Push (Trentino & Mop Top revision)
With pop, zest, and class Trentino and Mop Top create an urban and modern edit of Lupe’s “Kick, Push.” The tune features lots of samples and heavy trap influences, all leading to a classic house drop that will shock genre loyalist everywhere.
