For artists, it’s not enough anymore to just produce tracks or release what you’re passionate about in the moment. Building a new world and a new experience for the casual dance music listener in a saturated music market is essential. Many of the artist featured this week, feature exactly that: a world with stories, with meaning, with various energy levels and moods, and with themes that are relatable. Enjoy some of our favorites from this week’s Powerful Picks.
Ryn Weaver – Octahate (Cignature Remix)
It’s been revealed that Cignature is Audien after Audien tweeted a phrasing hinting at the Cignature name. Audien is huge, one of very few artists that have an official Michael Jackson remix in their catalog. The future with Cignature is unknown, but you can bet it will be stellar.

Zhane – Hey Mr. DJ (Trentino & Marc Adams revision)
Trentino is a man of many musical hats. With his collaboration game always strong, Trentino has paired up with Marc Adams to combine future house, tech house, and a dark atmosphere. The flow of this single is deep, attention-catching, and makes you feel like you’re going on an ambitious adventurous expedition in a creepy cave somewhere.

Flux Pavilion Ft Tom Cane – Feels Good (Patrick Hagenaar Remix)
Released as an official remix, Patrick Hagenaar has taken on “Feels Good,” a track with great atmosphere. “Feels Good (Patrick Hagenaar Remix)” may be relatively simple technically speaking, but the emotion it conveys is outstanding.
Adventure Club – Thunderclap (William Black Remix)
I can see video game fans being a huge fan of this tune. “Thunderclap (William Black Remix)” carries a very noticeable heavy element to it. A sound William Black calls “Melodic Trap.” However it’s defined, this remix has some raw power to it that’s hard to beat.

Pegboard Nerds – Pink Cloud Ft. Max Collins
If Fox Stevenson and The Glitch Mob had a baby, it would probably be this track. “Pink Cloud Ft. Max Collins” is super poppy, full of life, and features an old-school radio melody that frames the single beautifully. Easily my favorite Pegboard Nerds tune of the year.
Justin Bieber – What Do You Mean (Yultron Remix)
Alternatively known as “FUCK YOU SOUNDCLOUD IM PUTTING UP MY BIEBER REMIX (YULTRON REMIX).” LOL. This tune adds a light, feather-like rhythm effect within the future bass drop. A huge part of a future bass song is the strong melody, and that’s precisely what “Yultron” puts out there.

Bee’s Knees – Love Will Never Do (Janet Jackson Cover) Feat. Scavenger Hunt
Janet Jackson boasts powerful, soulful music, but Scaveger Hunt and Bee’s Knees convey a similar moving energy. The collaboration is outstanding and brings a whole new vibe to the soulful experience.

Alexander Lewis & Dabow – Psychosis
Trap is breaking off into smaller subgenres, “Psychosis” is definitely for fans of the rising/trend setting Slander sound that’s been big this year. “Psychosis” includes more a technical mid-energy spin that truly stands out.
