Genres showcasing an experimental twist is the overriding theme of the week. Future bass, dubstep, trap, – all going through changes and adaptations as these genres gain more longevity. Who knows what genres will be here a year from now. Until then, enjoy some of the internet’s favorite dance genres as they run their course; here are some of our favorite release from this week.
Party Favor – BAP U (not sorry Remix)
New to Powerful Picks and basically the world, not sorry is making moves via his official Party Favor remix supported by Mad Decent. Leaning on the heavy side, especially for a Mad Decent release, not sorry, puts icing on the “Bap U,” cake.
YOGI – Siri Feat. Elliphant And Pusha T
Following up on his massive re-release of “Burial” with Skrillex, Yogi drops “Siri,” a track that again focuses on the dark side of trap and includes haunting, intense vocal samples along side sick rap verses.
PANG! – Walking In The Sun (Dub Mix)
The swedish duo PANG! have been off the radar for months, but have recently resurfaced after teasing a portion of tune and now uploading “Walking In The Sun (Dub Mix).” PANG! is one of the best acts to come out of the chill house movement, their focus on mature chord progressions, indie-folk themes, and great percussion makes PANG! one of the most underrated acts on this list and within the chill house scene.
Wycleff Jean – Sweetest Girl (Gummy Remix)
Gummy has been picking up the pace in 2015, he seems to have really found his sound, which tends to be a mixture of heavy future bass synths blended softly-plucked string instruments. The combination is energetic and therapeutic all at the same time.
TAI & Le Shuuk – Unicorn
Kannibalen expands it’s bass-fantasy universe with a sick banger from the likes of TAI & Le Shuuk. The tune has an intriguing narrative that I won’t spoil, but completely enhances the experience of the single.
Nigel Good – This Is Forever
I love when artists create music made to be heard in space, and that’s precisely what Space Cadet, Nigel Good’s new album, has concocted. Space Cadet LP contains several genres within the album, one of my favorites being the very progressive “This Is Forever,” a tune that completely pulls you in to a one-of-a-kind journey Nigel Good has painstakingly created.

Day One – Moonburn
After sharing “Serenity” with us, Day One has dropped his entire EP, also titled Serenity. The EP features an underlying progressive-meets-pop feeling throughout, but contains great overall construction and themes within each single, especially in “Moonburn.”
Slander & NGHTMRE – You (UFO! Remix)
The Slander & NGHTMRE combination is something the world is eating up in 2015, UFO! tops off one of their hits off their latest EPs with squeaky, liquidy trap drops and powerful, surprising melodic moments.

ATLiens x Woolymammoth – SIGIL
After dropping a tune last week, ATLiens have teamed up with up-and-comer Woolymammoth to unleash “SIGIL,” which blends middle-eastern vibes with some sick 808. ATLiens and Wooly are making moves, keep an eye on them push the boundaries.
QUIX x Troy Kete – Sippy Cup
Don’t let the name confuse, “Sippy Cup” packs more of a punch than you would expect. QUIX and Troy Kete get down-right weird with this tune, but there’s something exotic and exciting about the flow. On another note, Quix recently got his releases played out by Baauer via his recent Triple J mix, this dude is undoubtedly going places.
PRXZM – Color My Skies
This isn’t the first time PRXZM has made Powerful Picks. Their talent shines via their super catchy, trippy, well-mastered musical pieces. “Color My Skies” is a well-balanced combination of their chill and energetic side.
Varien – Valkyrie III: Atonement (feat. Laura Brehm)
Varien is on fire lately, his heavy focus on spirituality and epic themes via his brand and massive productions has made Varien an unmistakable name in the bass music game. “Valkyrie III: Atonement (feat. Laura Brehm)” only takes these elements to greater place.
Fractal – Collide (feat Danyka Nadeau)
The entirely of Fractal’s Gaia LP is truly Monstercat at it’s best, yet “Collide (feat Danyka Nadeau)” completely consumes the listener with full, epic synths, powerful bassline samples and effects, and just all-around great construction.
