The Powerful Picks from this week bring us all over, as far as genres are concerned. From remixes to dubstep to electro, all these tracks will be packing heavy bass. Turn up your speakers and check out the playlist below.
NGHTMRE & SLANDER – GUD VIBRATIONS (NITTI GRITTI REMIX)
If you thought the bass duo NGHTMRE & SLANDER killed the original track with vocals sampled from the 80’s tune “Love Sensation”, then you haven’t heard Nitti Gritti’s touch. The drop will take you by surprise with the dirty synths and heavy bass hits. With the perfect amount of the original left in remix, it is still easy to hear where this record has it’s roots from.
Marshmello – Alone (HARE5 Remix)
With the “Alone” remix competition currently going on, there has been some great remixes being released. HARE5 has been one of the perfect remixes that screams out his unique hybrid sound, while capturing the Marshmello feel simultaneously. His last original released on Fated Records called “STOOPID” is a model showcase of his tone.
Splitbreed & Cream – Wildlife
In typical Splitbreed fasion, “Wildlife” finds the balance between segments of aggressive rapping, and heavy, supersaw flavored drops. Despite this, the more subtle sounds are the really where the track shines; the brass stabs behind Splitbreed’s rapping, as well as the minimalistic bass design that plays off the 808s, help embellish the track and keep it interesting, even when the vocals get a bit cheesy.
AvAlanche – Komai
“Komai” brings the banger feel back like you’ve never felt before. AvAlanche kills it with this one which makes the whole room lit every time. The style of “Komai” has been around for while, but this track keeps it fresh from start to finish.
Bryson Price – I Heard The Truth feat. Lecrae
“I Heard The Truth feat. Lecrae” is that classic dubstep feel. Fasting moving synths, dubstep drops that take over your speakers, and much more. Bryson Price is gradually rising, given his dedication and determination, there’s a chance he may have his break sooner than you think.
Vibement – Strikeout
Utilizing one of the best supersaws I’ve heard in a while, Vibement uses uplifting melody to set up, and contrast, a MASSIVE dubstep drop. Filled with a variety of sounds and an ever-changing arrangement, “Strikeouts”‘ two drops pull no punches, assaulting the listener in a way that is both abrupt, and rewarding.
Kid Towerzz – Click.It
“Click. It” is another great original from Kid Towerzz, a young artist on the rise in the bass house scene. After his huge remix of “The End” by Eptic, he has been releasing nothing short of ideal house music. Keep on the look out for more of his upcoming releases.
DownTheAlley – City Highlights
The title track off DownTheAlley’s new EP is one centered around a beautiful piano melody paired with an emotion filled vocal sample. But like a fake friend who unveils their true colors, “City Highlights” fakes out the listener with a melodic future bass drop before abruptly switching to a heavier trap focus.
Royal-T & Deadbeat UK – Revenge
“Revenge” is a track that breaks away from the style of garage popularized by Jauz and others, focusing more on the genre’s UK roots. Eery atmospheres and subtle yet in your face bass are the star elements here, creating a consistent, yet funky, song that is easy to get down to.
Illanthropy – Within, Never Without
In a track that feels reminiscent of old Bassnectar, Illanthropy combines heavy, yet melodic, bass and video-game-esque arpeggios to create an uplifting drop that is sure to motivate people to make the most out of their life. This is preceded by a vibe-filled intro, seeping with lush pads, bouncy drums, and chilling vocals.
