RetroPhunk – Hard To Breath
Soulful vocals and catchy melodies come together to create “Hard To Breath”, a sonic journey in the stylings of future bass. Besides the variety of dynamic sounds, the best thing about this track is its songwriting and sense of direction. It introduces elements and lays down the foundation early on for a final drop that evolves into sporadic, yet restricted, chaos.
FS & Reid Speed – The Fixx (Feat. Evil Boys Choir)
Play Me Record’s head honcho is back again with a halftimed collab with FS and Evil Boys Choir. Assertive and definitive vocals are sprinkle throughout intro, making the tune perfect to mix into any hard hitting set. The drop features grimy bass pads, layered underneath an eery melody and crisp drums, creating a track that feels perfectly balanced.
Levitate & Holly – They Don’t
Combining complex sound design and cinematic atmospheres, “They Don’t is a trap song that is filled to the brim with small surprises. A melancholy melody leads into a drop where the chopped up vocal sample helps to exaggerate the sporadic theme of the song, while the countless foley sounds help to create rich textures that glue the song together.
Autolaser & PLS&TY – Hiding From The Rain (Kaptain Remix)
Filling in our funk-glitch side is Kaptain, who are one of many to take on the Autolaser & PLS&TY single “Hiding From The Rain”. The remix stands out from the crowd as it’s focus on genres and sounds that no other remixing artist did. Kaptain continue to steady climb the ranks in the glitch-funk world, more to come soon.
ShaunyMo – Lets Go
Shauny Mo is trying to make a name for himself within the dance rap niche of EDM. “Lets Go” is his second release, “Bass” being his first. The overall message of the tune is to fuck it all and getting the party started. Shauny Mo’s tune focuses on the banger side of things as well. Shauny Mo has an arsenel of releases he plans to unleash in the next coming months.
PatrickReza – Let U Fall (Feat. Aubren Elaine)
PatrickReza is one of the most underrated, outstanding artists I know. He’s like a secret so good you don’t want to tell your friends. “Let U Fall (Feat. Aubren Elaine)” is a experimental chapter in the PatrickReza story. Yet, the story as a whole truly breaks barriers. As you listen to each release of his SoundCloud, it’s like a history book of American electronic music these past three years – Patrick giving his take on the sound at the time. Enjoy “Let U Fall (Feat. Aubren Elaine)” and all it’s modernness.
TODIEFOR feat. Daler Mehndi – Tunak Tunak Tun
What just happened to me? Tunak Tunak Tun is a proper combination of hilariousness, exoticism, and epicness. How the concept for the song came about, I’m not quite sure, but there’s something infectious here. This trap banger goes hard.
The Prototypes – Rocket Guns Blazin’
In typical Prototypes fasion, “Rocket Guns Blazin'” knows that the best thing going for it is a catchy melody and ultra-clean mix. Throughout the song the duo finds ways to expand on the melody, whether it be through repeating it with new sounds, or using effects and counter-melody to accentuate it. The bassline is also accentuated by how well fitting every sound is as far as mixing goes, everything has a place and purpose, making the song sound very stripped back and minimalistic despite having a lot of different elements.
Knife Party – Destroy Them With Lazers (Busted by Herobust) POP TVRT – Toasted
Herobust showed us how a remix is done right with his flip of the EDM Classic. Knife Party’s original melody and sounds are kept, while Herobust builds upon the original idea, making it relevant to modern dance music. Three distinct and varied drops are featured, each trap focused, with a hint of future bass influence.
POP TVRT – Toasted
With the recent rise of food themed artists lately, POP TVRT is another one to watch out for. “Toasted” brings up the heat with a huge dubstep drop, complete with amazing synth work and bass lines. The solid grooves and vocal chops will have you hooked in seconds.
Hallywood X – Rescue Me (Katdrop Remix)
After recently hitting 10,000 well deserved followers, Katdrop brought us his huge remix of “Resuce Me”. After sitting on this remix for around 3 years, we’re glad to hear his touch on this great track and see its debut. This huge melodic dubstep track will definitely find itself in some bass heavy sets.
Cover Blank- Mexican Hero
Drawing influence from a sound that is rare to hear in dance music, Mexican Hero is a glitchy four to the floor track that perfectly paints an international picture in your head. While still filled with energy, the track isn’t overbearingly intense, it knows how to make someone groove, but focuses more on creating a vibe and melody that will get stuck in your head.
