This week’s powerful picks jumps between genres like it’s nothing, from fresh trap/dubstep hybrids, to the newest from dnb legends, to the resurgence of moombahton. If you like to get heavy there is something for you here, no matter your tastes, so turn up the bass and prepare to be blown away by this week’s POWERFUL PICKS
Sakpata – Mana Addict
Hand drums mix with heavy kicks and snares to set the stage for this video game inspired track before dropping into an ever changing banger that perfectly embodies the feeling of being in a high risk fight while low on magic and supplies. The 2nd drop, reminiscent of hardstyle, builds upon the foundation of the rest of the song, charging the energy up more and more as it proceeds.
SNEEK – SpaceBro
Blending the line between trap and dubstep, “SpaceBro” is a track that is mixed so the heavy, distorted sub is always the most prominent thing in your headphones. But the sub isn’t the only great thing about the song, the grimy and complex mid-layer basses mix with crisp kicks and metallic snares, as well at tasteful vocal samples and chops, to create one huge, menacing experience.
Gent & Jawns – Collecta (Dima Edit)
It’s rare to find good moombahton these days, but this remix of Gent & Jawns recent trap banger is definitely one of the few. Like in all good moombahton songs the kick and sub hits hard, with the screechy lead laying nicely on top of them, leaving well defined space for all the elements. The song gets even better in the 2nd drop when it transforms into a breakbeat trap tune, leaving the listener no choice but to nod their head to the energy.
XUITCASECITY, VMK & CRLMASTR – Somebody Say
“Somebody Say” is an excellent fusion of future bass and hip-hop. XUITCASECITY knows how it do it big. So many hot elements come together in one as the tune progresses. (That dark bass tho.) XUITCASECITY’s previous Spotify uploads have gone viral too, opening doors to new opportunities. Stoked to see whats next.
Dirty Audio X Rickyxsan – Gettin That (Wooli Remix)
If you need a track to get the party started, this is the one. “Gettin That (Wooli Remix)” takes bass to the next level with an explosive twist on trap and future bass. The combination is all-consuming and get’s things lit in no time. Wooli’s branding is certainly unique – a theme that matches his music as well.
Cherney – Cali Rollin’
“Cali Rollin'” is a diverse and heavy dubstep track that combines crazy complex sound design with catchy and intense bass melodies. Its use of real instruments in the build ups adds an organic feel to the track, especially with the piano melody during the bridge, which seamlessly blends with synths to build energy leading into the 2nd drop/outro.
Teddy Killerz & Gridlock – Sputnik
This track from Teddy Killerz new Suicide Squad themed collab EP features dnb legend Gridlok; together the two producers have created an intense, yet not too overwhelming tune that is sure to get any proper head dancing. The kick and bass take center stage, stomping around while subtle but grimy fills help drive the track’s intensity.
The Floozies Feat. Karl Denson -No Part of This (Manic Focus Remix)
Pulsating bass meet funky synths, sax, and guitar in this party anthem from Manic Focus. Like a sonic masterpiece this tune perfectly blends each individual element together, leaving room for all to shine. The synergy between the tune’s organic and synthetic elements leave us bobbing out heads helplessly…the truth of the matter is we DO want a part of this!
Vaski – F U Soundcloud
When dubstep pioneer Vaski had his soundcloud taken down for a few months he was inspired to write this tune, and luckily it is so dope that I don’t even think the guys at soundcloud can hate too much. Comedic vocals drop into a heavy trap beat complete with a rapid top layer synth, which then evolves into trippy bass flowing up and down the scale.
