Starting things off slow, Razat’s “Manifest” is a subtle banger oozing with vinyl static and deep bass. The tune’s dark atmospheres are made up of acoustic bass mixed with some massively reverbed drums, which then changes into a dark beat consisting of wobble pads and distorted bass.
Twofold & Holly – Darker Than Me
Twofold has been known for his incredibly heavy basses, but his collab with rising bass star Holly takes things to a whole new level. There is no proper build up on this track, just a dark, dissonant set up, this is instantly slapped away by series of complex and grimy sounds that completely engulf the listener in chaos.
DJ Snake & Yellow Claw – Ocho Cinco (Dirty Audio Remix)
With the array of Ocho Cinco remixes coming in this week, it could have been hard to figure out which ones came out on the top. This genre chameleon surprises the listener by constantly shifting through the styles of DnB, future bass, and trap. The tune’s mesmerizing piano melody is masterfully picked up by lush supersaws, which combine with punchy drums to create a huge bass experience.
Whiney & Hugh Hardie – Blind Eyes (Feat. Inja)
While Hospital Records is known for the immersive liquid anthems, they also have been known to deliver dark and grimy dnb tracks as well, such as this new Whiney collab. The song seems innocent enough at first, combing Lush pads and majestic piano melodies with subtle break, but before you know it intimidating vocals and a menacing neurobass take over.
Awal – Puppet Master
This intense string centered track combines influence from hardstyle, dubstep, and other style of bass music, creating an immersive and heavy dance experience that even samples Excsion’s famous “headbanger” line. The second drop changes this up by picking up tempo and hitting the listener with a fresh drum and bass beat.
REZ & Sponce – Joomba (Widdler Remix)
As per usual, The Widdler’s remix of 2016 superstar Rez is deep, dark, and powerful. Ominous atmosphers and vocals lead into a drop dominated by punchy drums and subtle, wobbly bass. As the song progresses more elements are added that further perpetuate feelings of fear and caution.
