The more diverse my tastes become that happier I am. This week’s Powerful Picks focus is on just that, diversity. Manila Killa releases a multi-genre remix of “Walking On A Ghost” while Unlike Pluto injects future bass vibes into a Tritonal original. I won’t spoil all the surprises, check our this week’s Powerful Picks below.
Tegan and Sara – Walking With A Ghost (Manila Killa Remix)
One half of Hotel Garuda, Manila Killa released an unforgettable remix of “Walking With A Gost” a classic original famously covered by The White Stripes. The remix is more of a fusion of tropical house, future bass, and new wave, not presenting itself as more of one than the other. Pure gold.
Britney Spears – Toxic (IMLAY Remix)
Brand new to the scene, Korean DJ IMLAY has remixes the 90’s classic. A track that’s been remixed time and time again, IMLAY’s brings new life to sound by adding sleek chill-trap edits to the original.
Aero Chord – Break Them (feat. Anna Yvette)
Aero Chord gets super dirty with his recent trap/twerk-infused original. The sound remains classically Monstercat while still conveying a sense of edginess.
Wayne H and Aaron Jackson – Play That Record
Solstice Records is putting out more goodness lately, platforming Wayne H and Aaron Jacksons’ “Play That Record,” a tech house track that gets very wubby nearly beginning to finish.
Tritonal – Anchor (Unlike Pluto Remix)
Unlike Pluto is making those pure Tritonal vibes even purer, warping the Tritonal original in a way that makes your stomach churn. The inevitable drop hits gently as future bass vibes swirl all around. For more heart-warming future bass tracks check out #FutureBassFridays.
Euphony – Citrus
Euphony kicks it old school with his latest “Citrus,” the release is a layering process, first start melody, then electro percussion fades in, and finally arpeggio to top it all off. “Citrus” is a beautiful original that keeps it simple but feels great.
Seven Lions & Xilent – The Fall (Preview)
SEVEN LIONS!! This boy is hot right now and for good reason, his dark, bass-infused sound is like no other. His Xilent collaboration gets even more experimental than his last EP – definitely worth a play.
Diplo – Diplo & Friends BBCR1XTRA: November 22nd, 2014
Diplo takes over his own show, finally uploading the mix to his SoundCloud. If you know Diplo, you know this happens only a few times a year and to expect a little bit of everything. The two hour mix really “Takes U There.” 🙂
Will Sparks & Samual James – Myriad (Original Mix)
I was skeptical as I approached this track, thinking it was going to be super generic. I’m happy to say I was flat-out wrong. The elongated intro leading up to the drops a remarkably innovative. Defying the Melbourne Bounce stereotypes in “Myriad” is creating growth and longevity for the Aussie native.
