We’re Not Friends – Dare (Feat. Brenna V.K.)
Continuing to prove themselves as a rising force in dubstep, We’re Not Friends deliver a unique and progressive banger that pushes forward their own sound, as well as the genre itself. The song’s three drops are all extremely cohesive, but never exactly the same, largely due to the amazing breakwork that so perfectly lay overtop the tune’s riser element.
Bentley Dean – Wake Up
“Wake Up” is one of the darkest or more experimental bass tunes on the list this week. Bentley Dean delivers on some seriously wicked sound design with “Wake Up”, this single glides you through hypnotic android sounds during the drop and a spiritual journey in the intro and bridge. Bentley Dean looks to be a brand new account with a quality sound, a combination which means one thing: keep an eye out.
Downlow’d & Digital BPM – Torn Apart (Original Mix)
Downlow’d set his year off with a tribute to electro with his new, electro-pop filled single “Torn Apart.” You feel like your are riding on the electrical signals of the internet with his video game-infused, highly animated single. The drop simply rips it with a slurred feel and an overall badass vibe.
Milkshake – Sugar Free
Milkshake was born out of the Kandy music movement and is now continuing to stand on his own as the productions keep coming. Milkshake’s latest original “Sugar Free” includes reggae vocals, heavy horns, and an overall trap feel that hits the spot. Milkshake may just be starting out, but already has well over 100K plays on SoundCloud alone. If you like Kandy, try Milkshake.
Anna Yvette & AFK – Clouds
In “Clouds” the ever-enchanting vocals of Anna Yvette are joined by tender guitars, creating an serene atmosphere that is soon over taken by huge basses and captivating synth melodies. The tune perfectly welds its several elements together into one massively immersive experience.
Tsimba – Pyrexstir
Tsimba comes fierce with his newest track, which assaults the listener with a series of grimy neuro-basses, and other wonky sounds. The off-kilter rhythm between the basses and surrounding elements keeps the listener guessing, providing a crazy experience that is sure to get people moving.
Awakening & Flex – Haunted (Zetta & Frik ‘N Krazy Remix)
In this spacey tune menacing melodies lead into a drop that knocks the listener off their feet with a series of intense metallic basses. The as the song continues to progress it introduces new heavy sounds, but never loses its metallic center.
Mickman – Divisionary
Once again showing off his thick sound on the intro track of his new album, Mickman delivers a hip-hop influenced track filled with hard hitting drums and grimy, yet wonky basses. Perfectly meticulous filler break up grimy pitch-shifted basses that drive themselves into the listener’s eardrums with the power of a drill.
Zhu -Faded (Shatterbox Remix)
Though “Faded” has been remixed to death at this point, Shatterbox’s new version brings some excitment back to the track with its lush future bass sounds, and it’s progressive nature. While the theme is consistent throughout the track, the subtle changes and additional melodies add a lot, keeping the listener’s ear hooked from start to finish.
