This edition of Powerful Picks guides you through the many faces of bass music. Some tunes are trippy and futuristic, while others go back to the roots of their genre. No matter what, if you love to dance then you will love this playlist. So buckle down, crank up those speakers, and get ready for this week’s POWERFUL PICKS!
Getter – Inhalant Abuse
The first release of Getter’s new label Shred Collective sees the producer going far into left field with wonky basses and other trippy sounds. The off-kilter rhythms evolve as the song progresses, creating an out of this world experience that perfectly captures the essence of inhalant abuse.
MEGALODON – Hood Anthem
A minimalist intro leads into an abrasive and powerful drop in MEGALODON’s newest dubstep monstrosity. If you like to head-bang don’t miss the opportunity to give in to the overwhelming energy of this genre master’s menacing music.
Travis Scott – Goosebumps (NGHTMRE Remix)
This gem from NGHTMRE’s live sets flips Travis Scott’s spooky single on its head with massive 808’s and atmospheric lead synths. The filler sounds and rhythms that the producer fills the gaps with brings extra life to the track, guiding the listener’s ear through the drop, back to the original sample.
Kaynein & Digital Spatter -Answers
This song is a bit of a throwback to the dubstep styles from the beginning of the decade. It has a majestic melody of synths and vocals chops, which soon is taken over by a massive but tamed bass drop. It is great to hear stuff like this coming out again!
Esseks – Off Kilter No Filter
Spook-tastic bass producer Esseks combines his old and new styles in his declarative banger “Off Kilter No Filter”. Weird but grimy basses meld with a maniacal melody and deep 808s, creating a track that perfectly captures the essence of the popping producer.
Dusty Bits – Brace Yourself
Every once and a while a song comes around that holds a bit more magic than your typical “banger”, and the new one from Dusty Bits is a perfect example of that. The main melody is truly captivating, and it guides the listener through that feeling of floating through space. Suddenly a sound manifests in the air, a high powered bass entering your force field! Behind it is an armada of alien ravers, all getting down to this classic dubstep sound.
