So many labels and independent artists are dropping their goodies currently, perhaps to get included in “best of” blog articles? Who knows, but WRR is here to serve a handful of what we liked best this week. Lots of friendly, poppy remixes from Nebbra, Almond and FKYA as well as a huge dubstep original with massive a banger status from Protohype & 501. Go one deeper below.
VERITE – Weekend (Almond & FKYA Remix)
Almond & FKYA teamed up to edit VERITE, a female singer with similar elements as Lana Del Ray. Almond and FYKA inject a mixture of 80’s electronic effects with a modern electro drop, making this remix more like a story instead of a basic build up and drop to enjoy.
Azealia Banks – Chasing Time (Nebbra Remix)
The abstract and expressionate Paris-based DJ, Nebbra, takes on a mainstream sound, this time editing the likes of Azealia Banks’s “Chasing Time.” Nebbra’s additions are phenomenal, adding all sorts of horns, bells, and whistles that give the single an entirely new rhythm and feel.
Vicetone – What I’ve Waited For (ft. D. Brown)
Vicetone reaffirms their longevity with a massive original featuring D. Brown. “What I’ve Waited For” captures an anthem moment through furious electro basslines and well-written lyrics – a mind-blower from start to finish.
Lenno feat. The Electric Sons – Wake Up
Lenno dropped a new EP today,”Wake Up” proudly boasted as the first track of the EP. “Wake Up” keeps it simple, yet melodic. Every effect has been edited to blast a full dose of pop at you with every passing beat. For fans of Cash Cash, Madeon, and Zedd.
Wolfgang Gartner – Unholy (Milo & Otis Remix)
When Milo & Otis remixes a track, you know they’re going to come at it from an angle like no one else would. Milo & Otis remix Wolfgang Gartner’s brand-changing, game-changing original “Unholy,” blending trap and surprisingly super relaxing vibes all within a few minute time period.
Protohype & 501 – Won’t Change Ft. Ras (Original Mix)
It’s official. Protohype and 501 make an excellent f*cking team. The duo’s brand new original “Won’t Change” is an intense banger that gives the even thickest-skinned bass fan the chills. Seriously, the drop blows the lid off the roof – an essential for a end-of-year “best of dubstep” list.
Jacob Plant – Louder (Original Mix)
Jacob Plant has been around for quite sometime, so it’s amazing to see Steve Aoki has picked up on his talent and release Louder (+ 2 remixes) on Dim Mak. I admit the bridges could be more charming, but the drop catches you off guard and immediately gets your head bobbing.
