We cover a lot of ground in this week’s Powerful Picks, so no matter what you’re into I’m sure you’ll enjoy this mixture of stylings. We have everything from cinematic inspired bass tracks, to the newest in bone-rattling dubstep, so if you’re ready to take things to the next level, crank up this week’s POWERFUL PICKS!
LEViTATE – Anodyne
Right off the bat you can tell that a lot of love was put into this tune. The intro is unique and cinematic, and it masterfully peaks your curiosity before introducing the real meat of the song. Once this masterpiece drops the listener is completely caught off guard as they are assaulted with a strange mix of grimy, unsettling bass, trippy melodies, and near incomprehensible vocals. As the song progresses it builds on the theme, climaxing in a weird metallic ball of fury.
Helicopter Showdown – People Love Machines
These dudes have a reputation for absolutely smashing it with almost every song, and “People Love Machines” is no different. It might seem like somewhat formulaic dubstep as far as structure goes, but what is really the focus here is the unique atmosphere that the producers create with their careful use of synthesizers and vocal samples. It literally feels like you’re in a sci-fy flick from the 80’s and it is glorious!
Henry Fong – Young Hearts
Henry Fong is back once more to bring forth his tropical vibes with an EDM influence. “Young Hearts” features the talented island vocals of Nyla & Stylo G. All these artists fuse together to produce a track that will be impossible to sit still to with an addicting drop!
MiloMilo & Freebot – Bring It Gyal
Jad? Dala is one label that has been having a solid release after release. The underground sound is quickly making major splashes around all of SoundCloud and “Bring It Gyal” is no exception. With MiloMilo and Freebot teaming up to combine their unique sounds into a fast-paced hit, you’ll have a hard time sitting still while listening to this tune!
Earporn Music – Geiger Counter
This tune takes it back to the days of dubstep where the basses were minimalistic but thick. These aren’t crazy basses with mind bending sound design, this is just a fun and rhythmic bassline with the right amount of spice, set to super thick drums. If you’re all about that roots dubstep, don’t miss out on this track!
YOOKiE – DRiP (ft. Brewski)
This massive tune is greatly influenced by the stylings of modern day hip-hop, as seen with the fun and exaggerated vocals of Brewski leading up to the drop. It helps to build a ton of energy before transitioning into a drop that actually replicates the sounds of water in a unique and unpredictable way. Would love to see the excitement this will throw a festival crowd into…
Sevim – Real Quick
Powerful plucks introduce this melodic masterpiece, before being joined by soul-filled vocal samples and shiny bells. The song’s fun and light melody leaves you completely unprepared for how heavy the drop actually is; this is no cookie cutter future bass song, the metallic effects and grimy filler basses make sure of that.
Sneek – Simple Instructions
Getter’s Shred Collective brand has been on a roll lately, and this immersive and adventurous tune is yet another example of the standard of content they are pushing out. The tune inches in like a Caterpillar, introducing its theme in a subtle way, before slapping you in the face with thick melodic chords, and crisp drums, completely immersing the listener. With you on the hook Sneek introduces a completely different second drop that just drives home just how much of a sonic journey this song really is.
