The directions that genres are taking are quite fascinating. The standard of what gets heard is rising, and the average up-and-comer seems to have a higher quality bar of what they put out these days. Awesome to see. This week features some innovative, edgy elements that we have been digging on lately.
San Holo x Yellow Claw – Alright
Sick combination happening here, San Holo and Yellow Claw take the best of both worlds to form “Alright,” combine that with the support of OWSLA and you got heads turning. “Alright” has a sentimental feel to it, which is somewhat of a new angle for Yellow Claw – all around fresh release.
Swage – High Stakes (Original Mix)
This is easily one of the coolest tunes on the list. “High Stakes” uses well-timed drops to create a party effect that’s super infectious. Getter, Ghastly, Kayzo, JoyRyde, Kaliox, Drezo, Dr. Fresch, all support this act – and for good reason. The spin this guy puts on bass music is damn original.
Chime x Brig – Unbelievable
After the heart throbbing release of “I’m In Love” one of Brigs best tracks to dates, Brig released another only 7 days later, this time entitled “Unbelievable”. The tune is a collaboration with Chime, an unique up-and-comer in the global dance scene. “Unbelievable” is quite believable, but fun no doubt all the way through.
Blvk Sheep & Madhatter – Rapture
Supported by Riot Ten, Blvk Sheep & Madhatter throw their hat once again in the club/festival trap game with “Rapture.” A furious hybrid of dubstep and trap, with a splash of almost-Botnek/Snails vibes within. The track goes hard.
Valy Mo & Dustycloud – Baguette Vibe (8Er$ Remix)
This is 8Er$ first time on the list, but I’m ecstatic I found him. His appreciation for rhythm and percussion is unparalleled – allowing the listener to get a surge of his energetic, ever-changing vibes that keeps the feeling fresh.
Usher – Love In This Club (Gummy Remix)
With a pop and Branchez feel “Love In This Club (Gummy Remix)” gets real. Featuring catchy synths and clever drum work, Gummy totally transforms the vibe of the original. Gummy does the tune justice and then some, making it appeal to an entirely new audience.
PYLOT – A Race Against Time
Monstercat is always great at finding artists with a cinematic twist. PYLOT’s “A Race Against Time” conveys this type of emotion, with a strong, video-game-music-meets-rock feel layered atop. It’s just epic from start to finish, putting you in the driver seat of a wild ride.
