If you’re into bass, welcome to your curated fix of the week. With tracks all over the map of genres, there will be a tune to satisfy the most diverse of heavy palettes. Kick back, crank the speakers, and get ready for our hand-crafted selections; this is Powerful Picks.
Porn And Chicken X Animale – All Hell Broke Loose (feat. Hype Turner)
Does Porn And Chicken or Animale know Rawtek? They could make one hell of track together. “All Hell Broke Loose (feat. Hype Turner)” focuses on jungle terror vibes, pushing it to the extreme while combining it with a small taste of big-room synthns and trap. If there was tune made for festival season, it’s this one. The second drop goes even harder than the first, taking the experience you’ve referenced once and going next level with it.
GoodSex – Gets Me ft. Madison Bro (Original Mix)
“Gets Me ft. Madison Bro (Original Mix)” was one of my favorite find this week. I’ve never heard of Madison Bro, but so glad I have, she has potential to be a huge star with that voice, seriously. GoodSex compliments what Madison Bro brings to the table perfectly with a highly original dubstep/bass meets future bass instrumental. Chill introverted moments and rager moments are all packed into one. It’s like it took at the best parts of popular trends and created a damn magical experience that is relatable across the board.
Wrekloose – Shake
Hitting the ground running, Wrekloose has officially put out his 2nd track on Plenum Records. “Shake” will have you getting ratchet to every grooving bass line. With plenty of electro sounds found throughout the track, you’ll be moving to each and every wub and whip in this bass house tune.
Sweet Teeth – [Triggered]
Philly producer Sweet Teeth has been making a lot of noise lately, and “[Triggered]” is a perfect example of why. Funk breaks and a variety of dubstep basses break up the drop of this heavy 808 focused song, offering the same level of dichotomy that can be found in the song’s buildups.
Lil Texas & VenessaMichaels – Without You
A more perfect duo couldn’t have teamed together to bring the sound of “Without You”. The initial jersey drop will easily set the club into motion, before finding its way into a half time hit. The smooth vocals throughout the song bring the perfect touch of completion to this bright track.
Porter Robinson – Unison (Crankdat Re-Crank)
It’s not often that a remix of a Porter Robinson classic can gain a lot of attention, with his unique production being hard to compete with. Leave it to Crankdat though to keep his streak of addicting remixes coming full force, while giving “Unison” the perfect re-crank it deserves for the heaviest of sets. This remix will definitely take you by surprise and on a journey, as you attempt to guess what’s around each surprising corner.
Lexy Panterra – Lit (Ray Volpe Remix)
Ray Volpe is the king of the immersive mixdown. In his short but sweet “Lit” remix, the producer pairs thick kicks and wide snares with huge 808s and Lexy Panterra’s sweet vocals to lay the foundation of the song’s theme. From there the song’s second drop evolves into one more focused on crazy, high movement basses layered on top of 808s.
Statik Link – Kick The Funk
Statik Link has recently been bringing us funky hit after hit, while keeping it fresh. “Kick The Funk” is a track that will definitely have you feeling the rhythm of the bass lines as they come alive throughout the entire tune. With a grooving electric guitar and swinging percussions, you’ll be getting down with this duo quickly.
Azus – Brute Force
In this playful track Azus combines metallic bass with phat subs and a variety of popping sounds and other sound effects, creating a euphoric, yet heavy track that will throw people for a loop whenever it is dropped live.
Kaynein – Before Us
This almost old school sounding dubstep track is simple but powerful. The deep main bass rocks the subwoofer while masterfully chopped vocals and bell sounds lay over top of it. The song’s main melody and arrangement is probably the best thing about it, finding subtle ways to keep you interested for the entire four and a half minutes.
Wooli X Jantsen – DayDream
One of the most colorful and poppy tunes in the list, “DayDream” was premiered by NEST HQ and released on Good Enuff. ‘Nuff said. The tune weird trap percussion that people are loving in 2016 with a drop that’s stronger than any other on the list. In particular, Wooli is really churning out solid tune, this dude could really go big.
Shivv – 3 Seconds
Shivv’s “3 Seconds” is definitely a hybrid experience, video game music, dubstep, and a happy hardcore tempo and feel come together to make a space-aged, fantasy-oriented bass tune that would go perfect in any deep focus game battle. Shivv has been steadily climbing and releasing music for over a year, I’m sure this won’t be his last.
Dendro – Crank It Up
The label known as Dirty Blends is at it again, this time releasing a heavy tune for fans of TJR, Tommy Trash and bass house. As you could assume, the tune combines electro house and bass house to make a unique experience easy to rage to. Dendro’s “Crank It Up” will having you doing just that, turning it up to 11.
Boombox Cartel & QUIX – Supernatural Feat. Anjulie (WKND BAES FLIP)
It takes some balls to remix the likes of new heavy-hitters Boombox Cartel and Quix, but WKND BAES not only takes on the task of doing so with “Supernatural Feat. Anjulie” but slays it, turning the tune into a festival-friendly banger that overcomes you with a badass, bold feeling. This tune goes in.
