Week 29’s Powerful Picks will rock you. This week we have several artists who have been inspired by rock ‘n’ roll, with many tracks featuring guitar riffs. The bass is heavy, lots of high energy, and we even have some trance in here to help get you through the week! For those about to dance, we salute you.
Protostar – Genesis
“Genesis” is an ominous glitch tune, and it’s clear this bass lover’s roots are in some classic rock as power chords rip below the bassline. He has an upcoming vinyl release, a collaboration with Disprove, so keep your ears to the ground for this one.
Rawtek – Gimme Di Weed (feat. Jigsy Man)
What is is a holiday without music? Extend your 4/20 celebrations with this new release by Rawtek, a duo out of LA. This remix of Jigsy King’s dance hall anthem into a rude boy/trap tune is all you need to keep your 4/20 still blazing, whether you’re on the floor or hot boxing your car.

Bliss & Ritmo – Od Daka La Mana (Droplex Bootleg)
Droplex, a minimal techno DJ out of Hungary, remixes this psy-trance track into something raw and wickedly energetic. This mix is repetitively pushing the music further and further and when he really pushes it up, you’ll be ready to bounce. Warning: his original tracks might even be better, and that says a lot.
Muzzy Bearr – (feat. GRiZ)
Muzzy Bearr and GRiZ team up for this swanky electro -funk track that features a stellar guitar riff and vocals. If you’ve been into GRiz, you’ve heard Muzzy Bearr before; he’s been GRiZ guitarist for some time, but here he takes the lead. Groovy, my mans.
Motorcycle – As The Rush Comes (Metronome & Morten Granau Remix)
Metronome & Morten Granau remix this classic trance tune from the early 2000’s into something outstandingly contemporary and sparkling. Haunting, minimal, and still very much trance, this is wonderful. Drift deeper with me now.
Snoop Dogg – Peaches N Cream (JackLNDN Remix)
JackLNDN is on fire in 2015, in light of recent EDM.com and Earmilk premieres, JackLNDN released an ultra-fresh remix of Snoop Dogg’s “Peaches N Cream,” adding a minimal, seductive, yet energetic feel to the Doggie Dogg original.

Jack Novak – Driving Blind feat. Bright Lights (Extended Mix)
The female soloist based out of LA, Jack Novak, boasts incredibly powerful progressive house production in her new original “Driving Blind,” featuring the hear-melting vocals of Bright Lights. JN has recently made some big moves behind the scene with notable industry folks, so seeing what unveils in 2015 is hot on my radar.
Aaron Jackson – Be A Better You (Original Mix)
Pulling together a strange blend of deep house, tech house, and experimental, Aaron Jackson unleashed “Be A Better You,” an infectious track of his new EP which is also the title of this track.
Stvrchvsr – Reach (feat. Ashley Michelle)
“Reach” combines every great element of dubstep. With mellow tone and catchy drumstep melody, this track is whimisical until it breaks into a filthy, dub riff. Stvrchvsr breaks the typical dubstep norm with his combination of mid-range synth accents and grimey bass lines.
Wiz Khalifa feat. Charlie Puth – See You Again (Otter Berry Remix)
The original track off of the Fast and Furious 7 soundtrack is clearly inspired by Paul Walker’s passing. This is our last powerful pick of the week, and Otter Berry increased the tempo of this song and added some house elements that make this song feel much more optimistic while still keeping it emotionally powerful.
SoySauce ~ Thug Panda (feat. Andy Milonakis)
Yes, the dude from the MTV show. The abstract SoySauce has matched up with someone pretty out of the ball park, Andy Milonakis, who actually lays down a versatile layer to the trap-tropical sound, nothing to complain about here – great tune from all angles.
