We’re offering RaverRafting readers a preview of K+Lab’s new remix album The Worldly’s Remixed, released on Gramatik’s label Lowtemp Music.
New Zealand’s icon known for his keytar skills, K-Lab, is back with more mind-boggling funky glitch pop music in the form of remix album, The Worldly’s Remixed. 2016 saw the success of The Worldly’s, also released on Gramatik’s Lowtemp and two years earlier, came the release of debut album, Spacedirt.
The latter managed to pick up a Best Electronic Album at the New Zealand Music Awards which then led to the artist partnering with Stickybuds on ‘Clap Ya Hands Now’, on Westwood Records. The track was licensed by Sony for the Spiderman: Homecoming teaser trailer.
K+Lab went on to become Beatport’s best selling glitch hop artist in 2017 and he launched his Yum Yum tour, travelling around the USA, Canada, Costa Rica, Australia and New Zealand such as Earth Frequency Festival, Tall Tree Music Festival, Shambhala Music Festival, Oregon Eclipse, Motion Notion, FozzyFest, Bohemian Beatfreaks and more.
The Worldly’s injects much-needed into the mix of hip hop and glitch and for the new album, provided the perfect basis for the remixes. Notably, Stickybuds transformed the banger “Pull Up” that featured Melodownz and Mustafa Akbar.
Lowtemp’s Beat Fatigue got blue on the opening track “Mothership ReEntry” featuring Alias and The Mic Smith and Denver’s Alex Medellin aka Late Night Radio slowed down “Chestnut”, but maintained its funk. Cheshire also gave “Fangz” an extra kick.
Pigeon Hole reworked “Neckbreaker” and Lazy Syrup Orchestra added a little something to closing track “Medina Lena”. K+Lab also got in on the action and added the track “Don’t Lose Yo Self”.
