The freshest addition to Lowtemp, RAL is a name that might be new on your radar but certainly isn’t new to the music industry. One half of the accomplished duo Dubsidia, Jesus Martinez recently decided to test the waters in a big way by releasing his debut solo EP, Lifestream. Teaming up with Lowtemp today, we’re excited to give you a first listen to what the extremely talented producer cooked up.
The purpose for this particular collection is the diverse complexity of the sound design. RAL brings an innovative and future sound to dance music, using massive layers of organic samples that create a futuristic dance music production. -RAL
Once you click play up top on the four-track EP, it’s easy to pick up on just how refined RAL’s sound is. The lead track, “Action” takes you on a long, dark, almost brooding introduction leading to a beautiful downtempo climax. The eerie vibes lead you straight into “Imagination“, where the faster paced percussion is a welcomed change up from the opening song. Still with a more melodic tone, the song manages to be energy packed but not too in your face.
Next up is our personal favorite of the four track offering, title track “Lifestream“. A soothing, almost underwater melody slowly takes you to the 1:25 mark where you’re greeted by easy head nodding beats that bring to mind the great sound of Flume. Perfect use of vocal samples add to the overall feel of the track, and we couldn’t be digging it any more. Rounding out the EP is “Fame“, and keeping in line with its predecessors, it makes use of a well drawn out intro to give you a taste of what’s soon to come. A classic hip-hop feel runs rampant throughout the background, and a bouncy, future-bass synth leaves you on a high note as you reach the end of the journey.
All in all this is a huge day for RAL, as he’s made a big statement with his debut Lifestream EP. Lowtemp is one of our favorite labels in the industry, always seeming to strike gold on artists before they hit it big. RAL seems to be no exception, and is certainly one to keep an eye out for if this is any indication of what’s to come.
