His latest EP Fun & Games is a treat for fans, especially those with a love for video games. After coming across some vintage game-inspired samples, the two-track special was born. The lead track, “G4M3OV3R” with a difficulty level of very hard starts off triggering the inner kid at the arcade’s memory with video game glitch sounds that build into some very wonky wubz. The laser beam drops make you feel like you are on a rollercoaster through your favorite game really feeling the powerful drums and glitchy synths. Despite the name, by the end, you’ll really wish this Bass banger wasn’t over.
If you survive “G4M3OV3R” then you’ve unlocked a secret level to the second track, “OV3RK1LL.” It starts off with warped vocals that sound like the announcer at a fighting match hyping the crowd before a complete showdown. What follows is a string of drum kicks gradually increasing intensity leading into a mind-bending combination of sounds heavy, hard, trippy, and everything in between. This is that high-energy rhythm Ravenscoon fans keep coming back for.
I’ve been a huge video game fan for my entire life, starting with a Nintendo 64 I got for Christmas back in the day, through GameCube, XBOX, XBOX 360, XBOX ONE, etc. I even worked in the industry at GameSpot.com – doing advertising for companies like Riot Games, EA, XBOX, & Razer. I had stumbled upon this video game sample pack from ten or so years ago by this German company and found the vocal samples for “GAME OVER” and “OV3RK1LL,” and knew I had to use those for the EP I imagined writing.
I drew inspiration for this EP from some of my favorite bass music producers, like QUIX, Peekaboo, Jayceeoh, Krane, Stooki Sound, and Dabow.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
