Hailing for California, Foxsky packs in an amazing amount of might into ever single one of his originals and remixes. To describe his tracks as diversified would be an understatement, the soloist blow the minds of unsuspecting fan’s with unforseen tempo changes, samples, sound effects, and melody creativity in all of his releases.
It’s no wonder labels like Mad Decent latched on his wild, “anything goes if it feels right” style. Without a doubt, this sound is well reconciled within Foxsky’s exclusive mix for RaverRaftingRadio.
On top of this, Foxsky took our time to answer a few questions we couldn’t help but ask. Check out the sick mix above and the in-depth interview below.

Interview
What would you say are the biggest changes that’ve occurred in your sound since the release of “After A While?”
Wow – surprised to hear anything about that track. That was a chip/fake-bit tune I did that was sort of my transition from crazier chipbreak abrasive nonsense into more of a digestible, melodic, danceable format. I’ve realized since that I had somewhat of a love-hate relationship with 8-bit instruments and started to really want to push myself to explore other soundscapes and elements of sound design, just to prevent myself from sitting complacently dependant on a set of sounds I’m already famliar with. There are exceptions, but I try to avoid handwaving similarities amongst my tracks as “my style”.. sometimes I feel like thats a crutch one could use to avoid pushing their own boundaries and stepping out of their comfort zones. Basically, I spend extra long now compared to before trying to work on sound design and song compositions I think sound more unique.
Is there any routine as far as how you choose a track to remix or how you go about producing a track?
Honestly, choosing a track to remix is easy – it has to be something I love to listen to originally and it can’t be something I think is so perfect I’d only do it injustice to remix. As far as my approach in the composition, it really varies case by case. Something usually jumps out at me, be it a lead melody, tempo, or some kind of percussive beat, and I try to just run with it as fast as I can from there.
Do you have a favorite DAW?
FL Studio all the way. 🙂
Who would be your dream collaboration?
There are so many artists of different styles, it’s hard to pick one. But for a few – Hiromi, Cashmere, Drake, Danny Brown, Munchi to name a few.
Ebi Time We Touch (ft. Negitoro)” and “My Friend The Yellowtail (ft. Negitoro)” are two recently released tracks, how has your relationship with Negitoro developed over time?
Honestly, the music I’ve been doing with Negitoro is the best music I’ve ever done or felt like doing artistically. It’s nice to finally feel like I don’t have to make as many compromises with composition and/or “genres”, and to just make my own. “My Friend The Yellowtail” is really my transition away from the whole “EDM BANGER” culture and more to a place where I can explore different melodies and instruments in a place without beatport chart expectations, under the guise of a “house” composition if that makes sense. Negi and I push at each other constantly to try newer weirder things, and it’s great to finally work with someone who’s on the exact same page.
Do you make any of your sounds from scratch? Do you heavily edit sample packs or pre-purchased sounds?
I’m pretty sure all of my sounds are from scratch, in terms of synth design. Samples and stuff I accumulate randomly over the course of the years, whether it be from free sound forums or friends who send me sounds from time to time (shout out revoke and vass). I don’t use any “vengeance” anything and never use preset loops or whatever, just doesn’t feel right.
What are your top favorite tracks to jam to at the moment?
The dudes are TrekkieTrax are absolutely killing it right now, and its super dope to finally have other fellow japanese producers in the states doing their thing. Aside from them, Hasse de Moor, Wiwek, and Buku keep me inspired.
