After four days of filthy bass, endless partying, and unforgettable memories, Big Dub Festival came to a close marking its fourth successful year. The well known bass festival took place on Four Quarters farm in Artemas, Pennslyvania. The massive farm catered to four different stages and multiple camping areas with endless activities. A walk from Hill Top to the bottom of the farm revealed the immense area that the festival took place on. Lengthy walks from stage to stage would not dim the spirits of festival goers as shuttles ran very often and were filled with laughter and intriguing people. Long walks through the woods brought vibes similar to Electric Forest and we’re amazing during the day (and a bit scary at night). Bass heads came out in flocks and Big Dub attendance reached numbers high above their expectations for Friday and Saturday. Big Dub staff, security, and Four Quarters representatives monitored the festival with extreme proficiency and were quick to react to any emergency situations.
With a dedicated staff and passionate fans all over the festival, good vibes were pouring out of Big Dub for nearly four days straight. Although temperatures went over 90 degrees during the day, it would be met with cool and relaxing temperatures as the evening crept closer. Each day would be closed out with a jaw dropping sunset to welcome the night.
Big Dub transformed their stages into wonderlands equipped with designs that were unique and special in their own way. Although there were no giant designs or huge owls, Big Dub went above and beyond to make their stages incredibly creative. Large spider web type designs covered the majority of the stages giving them an eerie yet interesting vibe. All of main stage was littered with hammocks that spanned in between trees making them a popular attraction to festival attendees. Initially we saw camping sites that were built on the outskirts of main stage, however it can be assumed it was short lived as they were quickly removed.
If you managed to make your way to the Hill Top of Four Quarters farms, you would find a sea of tents as well as some vendor tents further down the mountain. In the middle of those tents could be found the official RaverRafting hangout tent. Equipped with speakers, signs, chairs and a rug; RaverRafting tried to bring some energy to the Hill Top area that could often be dead during the day. RaverRafting staff connected with festival goers by sharing our experiences at Big Dub as well as learning more about each individual attendee and their music history. Connecting with Big Dub attendees would last for three full days and RaverRafting staff traveled to every inch of Big Dub and connected with newfound along the way.
Saturday would host the last day of Big Dub and it was undoubtedly the most intense of the four days. Big Dub festival attendees were able to rally on the final day and end with a bang. With a stacked lineup, last day feels, and a whole lot of dancing, it’s no surprise that Saturday turned out to be the most explosive day. We’d see performances from artists like Virtual Riot, Illenium, Skism, and GTA to close it out. Illenium added a much welcomed melodic bass to his performance that proved to be a nice change from the constant head banging bass. GTA would come on right around 10:50 and played until 12:15 when main stage would close down for the final night. GTA did justice with their performance often mixing in some classics with their newest tracks as well. Fireworks would end the performance and patrons would soon flood out to their tents to close out the final night.
Sunday morning RaverRafting returned to the festival and connected with patrons about their experiences at Big Dub one last time. Although many patrons approached us with a seemingly hungover face, it would not damper their positive experiences and friends met during the festivals. After connecting one last time and seeing the smiles of all those exiting, it was clear that Big Dub has certainly returned for another successful year! RaverRafting enjoyed their time at Big Dub Festival and we hope to be able to connect with ravers at future festivals!
