Republic In Pieces is a group who is brand-new to me but has captured my full attention. Their politically-fueled music genuinely makes one think deep while still impressing with production skill. Politics may not be your thing, but at the least, Distress EP can be appreciated by everyone for it’s original, out-of-the-box direction.
Diving in, “Boundless Boy” reminds me of a cross between Deftones and The Glitch Mob. Electro-darkness fill your speakers as each layer of music slowly builds on it self. The energy level is pretty well maintained through and segway’s well into “Creatures of The Media,” a tune shining light on one of the influences of America’s violence issue, television.
“Incriminated” delivers a unique, totally badass feeling. With wave after wave of heavy drums and mind-warping synths coming forth continuously. “Virtuous,” the final single off of Distress EP, lightens up a bit, featuring feminine vocal samples and that signature dark sound that RIP has conveyed in the 4-track EP.
Whatever you fancy,RIP’s Distress EP is easy and enjoyable to listen to from start to finish, get the full EP here.
