In 2015, the Ultra Music Festival in Miami unveiled the Resistance Stage, aiming to spotlight lesser-known artists in genres such as techno and deep house. Only two years later, Ultra announced Carl Cox as the official global ambassador of RESISTANCE, who then began curating production and DJ booking for future events.
In September of 2018, the Miami City Commission made the unanimous decision to prevent UMF from returning to Bayfront Park, with “noise complaints and other concerns among downtown residents” as their reasons. Following the change in venue from downtown Miami to Virginia Key, Ultra capitalizes on the increased space. Now boasting three stages – maintaining the Carl Cox Megastructure/Arcadia Spider as its main stage – and two additional hours of nightly programming, the RESISTANCE brand has achieved new heights.
With a list of headliners including Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, The Martinez Brothers, Dubfire B3B Nicole Moudaber B3B Paco Osuna, Richie Hawtin, Hot Since 82, Jamie Jones B2B Joseph, Loco Dice, Matador, Sasha, John Digweed, Joris Voorn, and Sven Väth and support from the likes of Alan Fitzpatrick, ANNA, Camelphat B2B, Christian Smith, Dennis Cruz, Josh Wink, La Fleur, Pleasurekraft, and many more, RESISTANCE Miami 2019 will be bigger and better than ever.
