A New Twist to Proper Education: Richie Hawtin & Loco Dice Announce College Tour

College students across the nation went crazy for Tiesto’s Club Life College Invasion Tour. Artists like Tommy Trash, Porter Robinson, Diplo, and Dada Life played alongside Tiesto to give students their daily dose of EDM.

Now that school is back in session, we have some new professors gearing up for a much deeper semester. House legends Richie Hawtin and Loco Dice have teamed up to announce their first North American college campus tour called ‘Control: Beyond EDM’. The recent EDM uproar across North America inspired Hawtin and Dice to take the opportunity to entertain and educate college students about their underground techno sound. The tour will feature daytime lectures on music technology, presented by Dubspot, followed by evening events with Hawtin, Dice, Ean Golder, and a few other special professors. (producers that have been regulating the underground scene)

For those of you familiar with Hawtin and Dice, you’re probably thinking it’s about time. But what about all those college students who haven’t even heard of these techno kingpins? Needless to say they better start studying because this groundbreaking tour is nothing to sleep on. These producers want to educate the younger generation and provide them with a deep house experience, something no one in North America has ever done before.

This is definitely a different direction for a North American college tour. Of course there are always a few “deep house heads” in every friend group, but are college students actually ready for this tour? It’s a great a concept, providing not only the education component of electronic dance music but also entertainment. No other producers have stepped up to the plate to educate the youth of their passion and sound. This is an opportunity for students to have a better understanding of the techno and technology traits of modern-day dance music. Hawtin and Loco are musical advocates; putting the spotlight on a sound they love and raising musical awareness.

So on that note, welcome to EDM101. Hope you’re ready for the deepest semester of your college career. Classes begin October 29th in Buffalo, NY, the professors will educate 17 campuses across the East Coast and Midwest. Special guests include, Paco Osuna, Josh Wink, Victor Calderone, Carl Craig, Seth Troxler, Gaiser, Kevin Saunderson, and tINI.

Although the tour is only hitting the East Coast and Midwest for now, a West Coast tour is also being planned for spring semester 2013.
