The 9:30 Club has been on the forefront of DC’s music scene for over a decade. Josh Burdette, the 6’3 club manager and “everyone’s big buddy”, has passed away at the age of 36.
Part of the 9:30 club’s longevity relies on the way it handles situations within its own walls. Burdette was the force behind its success, in that regard.
“A bouncer is looking to bounce people. It’s a reactive way of doing things. We have a proactive attitude, so that we step into a situation before it becomes a problem. I don’t have any problems with anybody else calling themselves a bouncer, but that’s not the 9:30 club,” Burdette told The Washington Post in an interview.
The cause of death has yet to be disclosed. We will update this post when new information becomes available.
