Since gaining the attention of label boss Tiësto, Ronko delivered his debut single as part of Musical Freedom’s various artists’ compilation a few months ago. Proving his potential, he returns with the Ronin EP, a four track masterpiece that falls into the slightly darker realm of dance music.
Kicking things off is “Burn It Up,” which entirely sets the tone for the remainder of the EP with its bass house vibes and urban vocal. “Riddim Stick” features a dark bassline, ideal for the grungy underground dancefloors. Lifting the mood a little with spirited synth melodies while still maintaining a solid drum line is “Round House Kick.” Just saying, this may or may not be our favorite track. Lastly, drawing a close to Ronin is “Sakura” with its full throttle, edgy breakdowns that create a thrilling scene of a warrior heading into battle.
Ronko said, “The idea behind the EP is to it get in touch with your inner samurai. Because deep inside we’re all samurais!”
The Tokyo native was formerly a teacher at Hermand Brood Academy in the Netherlands, where he taught one of the biggest names in the game, Martin Garrix. During that time Ronko was releasing tracks on esteemed labels and gaining recognition from the likes of Hardwell, David Guetta, and Steve Aoki, but soon after took a hiatus while still in study mode. However, now he is back and stronger than ever, and his Ronin EP out on Musical Freedom confirms just that!
