Last Monday, Run DMT released his latest release, a self-titled EP of eight bass-heavy tracks. This EP is jam-packed with songs all ranging in variety, so fans of all genres will find something to enjoy. Run DMT has been making big moves in the industry for a while now, such as having his hit “Sugarcube” remixed by EDM-heavyweight Bassnectar and traveling with the Vans Warped Tour this entire summer. This EP surely cements his place as a unique force in today’s electronic music.
If you know anything about Run DMT, its probably that you can’t really pigeonhole his style; this EP is a perfect testament to that thought, with each track having its own unique sound and format. From drum and bass tracks (Ladies Night, The Pentagram) to dubstep (Shaman Juice, Starlight) and even electro-house (The Getaway) there is so much variety on this EP that it begs to be listened to. On top of the variety of this EP, Run DMT seems to cross boundaries of time as well, with some songs reaching far into the future, and others, such as Starlight, having an ’80s retro feel.
