The UK-native known around the world for intense bangers and colorful melodies, Rusko, has released another mind-melter entitled “! Volume 2.”
The 6-track EP can generally be described as high energy, focusing on a mostly funk sounds, but features diverse themes, tempos and styles throughout.
“Saxophone Stomp” fades in with a trippy arpeggio synth intro layered with a dirty electro baseline. The monotone nature of the track makes you curious if something poppier or darker will follow. “I Wanna Mingle” eases these tensions with a smooth, colorful and all-around funky original. Rusko’s music seems to hug you as dozens of well-panned sounds swirl around your speakers.
Next, “Lytah” enters with an abrupt beginning followed by a slow deep house/d’n’b fusion, creating a special mid-point moment where one realizes “What could come next?” “Slappy Time” is next! The hilariously title tune is surprisingly complex: a mid-tempo beat filled with tons of solid hooks and funk – a superb track that makes it easy to sink in and tune out.
Shining even more light on the funk vibe you now realize “! Volume 2” is all about, Rusko presents “Fusion Jam” combining – you guessed it – fusion jazz and jam band elements. The obvious title doesn’t distract from the creativity “Fusion Jam” delivers, the sound is down-right fun. “! Volume 2” ends vibes on a heavy note with “Vaminos,” a musical experience with random combinations of catchy sounds, an all-around great summarizer of the distinct quality sound Rusko delivered with “! Volume 2”
