In just a few short years on the scene, Trevor Christensen – AKA Said The Sky – has already carved out a niche for himself. Instead of working with the fist pumping, party type vibe so often associated with dance music, his tracks lean more toward melodic and poignant – and his new single, “Pray For Me,” is no different. Said The Sky has been dropping “Pray For Me” for those privileged enough to catch him on tour this summer, but the track was only officially released this week, to significant hype.
“Pray For Me” opens with a lone guitar so soft and soulful that it’s truly surprising (but pleasantly so!) when the BPM kicks up a few notches and it turns into an upbeat house track. The unexpectedness continues with two funkier-than-anticipated drops, and vocals by Origami that are slightly muffled, lending an air of mysteriousness.
A Colorado native, Christensen is trained in a number of instruments, and this shows in the musicality and versatility of his productions as Said The Sky. He had another big release, “Show & Tell,” earlier this summer, and we hope this is just the start of a wave of new music from this talented producer.
