The world has come to know and love the feel-good, summer house sounds of Dutch star Sam Feldt. Since his breakout hit “Show Me Love” back in 2015 on Spinnin Records, this talent has continued to create one lovable track after another, always showing his fans what it means to have a good time and truly enjoy every moment of life. With his “can’t stop, won’t stop” attitude, 2017 saw the release of Sam Feldt’s Sunrise to Sunset debut double album, the beginning of his highly anticipated global tour, and a somewhat cryptic Instagram post revealing new projects he’s got in the works to help the environment through music. Since the new year kicked off, he released a surprise After the Sunset remix album featuring artists like Breathe Caroline and Alex Schulz, and hosted yet another killer Miami Music Week throw down, Heartfeldt Pool Party. His latest feat comes in the form of the new single with Möwe “Down for Anything,” featuring KARRA.
In the midst of the madness, Sam Feldt spoke to us about his latest single, Miami Music Week, and the one thing we’ve all been curious about – what has come of that New Year’s Instagram post?
With all that you’ve been doing over the past 6 months, where did the inspiration for your new single with Möwe “Down for Anything,” featuring KARRA come from, and how did you find the time to get it together?
Sam Feldt: We wanted to make a track that was the perfect introduction for the warmer days that are ahead of us. We wanted to make a song that captures the sweet times of the summer, the sun, the beautiful weather, the beach and put that all in into one up-tempo feel good song with a catchy melody that sticks in your mind.
For me it’s always a challenge to make and find the time due to my busy touring schedule to create music on the road or in my studio in The Netherlands. Fortunately, I’m blessed with being able to do what I love, which is making music.
RR: How did the collaboration between you, Möwe, and KARRA come about?
Sam Feldt: I’ve known Möwe for around 5 years already and we both started making music on SoundCloud back then. I’ve always really loved their productions and you can find a lot of them in my mixtapes and Heartfeldt radio. When they approached me with this amazing vocal and the idea to create a track together – I immediately said yes.
RR: We’re loving the bohemian vibe of the official music video for “Down for Anything.” Can you tell us more about the thoughts that went into the making of it?
Sam Feldt: I think the official music video matches the track perfectly! The song is meant to have that careless and summery vibe, and I think the director of the video understood that very well. KARRA, the lead singer on the track, is a great performer too – which helps a lot!
RR: During Miami Music Week, you hosted your Heartfeldt Pool Party. What was your most memorable moment from this event?
Sam Feldt: Each year, going to Miami for Miami Music Week is something special. This year we decided to throw another Heartfeldt Poolparty like we did before. Like last year, we completely sold out and, in my opinionm we had the best edition to date. It was just perfect, with so many artists joining me, and even KARRA, who took the stage and performed our latest single, was simply amazing. I think that might have been my personal highlight of the show. To see the response from the crowd when you play your song you’ve been working so hard on is one of the best feelings there is. It makes all the hard work pay of and seeing so many people with a smile on their face is heartwarming.
RR: Will KARRA be joining you on any stages this upcoming summer?
Sam Feldt: Who knows! Nothing confirmed yet, but I loved having her on stage in Miami during my pool party so I will definitely try to set something up again!
RR: Speaking of summer –we expect to hear “Down for Anything” in sets all over the world in the upcoming months. What place, venue, or festival are you most excited to play your new track and see it come to life with the crowd?
Sam Feldt: That’s a difficult question, because the reactions we’ve got so far from the fans around the world and at the places where I played, both the club and the original version of Down for Anything, makes it an absolute safe bet that this track gets people dancing. Currently it’s doing great on a lot of radio stations as well and it’s been added to so many cool Spotify playlists, I can’t hardly believe how well it has been received so far.
RR: For your New Year’s Resolution, you expressed your concerns for this world and your new commitment to helping through music. What has come of this resolution since?
Sam Feldt: Great you’ve asked, because I’m about to release some news I’m super proud of concerning this topic. In the upcoming weeks, I’ll be sharing my plans with the rest of the world on how I’m striving to create a more sustainable world for us and the generations to come. I’ll also be sharing one of my plans on how I address my carbon footprint and what actions I’ll be taking to take matters into my own hand. So keep an eye out for this news in the next few weeks and in the meantime, try to think of ways how can provide a better way of living.
Thanks to Sam Feldt for taking the time to chat with us. We’re looking forward to seeing more of him this upcoming summer, and of course, dancing the days away with “Down For Anything.”
